The Choice of (High) Expectations
When I was very young, my mother always told me that "you have to have something to look forward to." I thought she was talking about going out, playing with my friends and having fun. However, as I got older, I started to understand what she really meant...and that our "expectations" have far greater importance than simple use around the playground.
Granted, we all enjoy looking forward to a nice dinner, a weekend away or a special road trip...our expectations add to our enjoyment of life. But, what about the expectations we have for ourselves?
What type of person do we expect to be, and what do we expect to accomplish with our life? Setting the right expectations for ourselves is, in effect, a guide for the choices we make each day. As the saying goes..."things usually turn out the way we expect them to."
So, set some high expectations for yourself...to be a good person, to help someone around you and to accomplish something special with your life.
